Editorial Policy

The articles, guides, and question pages on mycaloriecounter.app are written and maintained by the Calco Editorial Team. Calco - Calorie Counter App and this website are owned and operated by Tensortech Apps B.V. This page explains how we research and write our content, what sources we accept, how we keep pages current, and how you can report an error.
Not medical advice. Our content is for general information and education. It is not a substitute for advice, diagnosis, or treatment from a doctor, registered dietitian, or other qualified health professional. Talk to a professional before you make large changes to your diet, start or stop a medication, or begin a weight-loss program, especially if you are pregnant, have diabetes, have a history of disordered eating, or have another medical condition.
Who writes our content
The Calco Editorial Team is the in-house content team at Tensortech Apps B.V. We write about calorie tracking, nutrition basics, meal planning, and how the Calco app works. We do not present our writers as doctors or dietitians, and we do not invent experts, quotes, or user stories.
How we research and write
- We start from public guidance by health authorities and from peer-reviewed research.
- We write in plain language and explain the limits of the evidence when the evidence is mixed.
- We do not make claims about the Calco app that we cannot support. The app estimates calories and macros from a meal photo. These are estimates, and you can adjust portions in the app.
- We do not publish testimonials, ratings, or user counts unless we can link to a public, verifiable source.
- We review health-related pages (for example, pages about insulin resistance or prescription medications) with extra care, and we add citations to the claims they make.
Sourcing standard
We prefer these sources, in this order:
- Government and public-health bodies, such as the U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH and NIDDK), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and the USDA Dietary Guidelines for Americans.
- Peer-reviewed studies and systematic reviews, usually found through PubMed.
- Official prescribing information for medications.
When we state a specific statistic about health, we link to its source. If we cannot find a reliable source for a number, we remove the number or describe the finding in general terms.
Updates and review
We review our content regularly and when guidance or research changes. When we make a material change to a page, we update the "modified" date in the page data. We correct factual errors as soon as we confirm them.
Advertising and product mentions
This website promotes the Calco app, which is free to download on the iPhone App Store. Photo logging requires the premium subscription. We mention the app where it is relevant to the topic. Product mentions do not change the health information we present.
Corrections and contact
If you find an error or an outdated statement, please email contact@mycaloriecounter.app. Include the page address and a short description of the problem. If possible, include a link to a reliable source.
