Which app should you pick?
You want one free app for doses, side effects and food
MeAgainMeAgain logs shots with reminders, side effects and food (photo, barcode, voice or search) in its free version, according to its own page. Premium adds extras such as progress photos and a widget.
You mainly want a simple dose and side effect log
ShotsyShotsy lists dose logging, reminders, injection site rotation, side effects and weight as free. The estimated medication-level chart is part of the optional Shotsy+ subscription.
You use Android
MeAgainCalco is iOS only. MeAgain and Shotsy both run on iPhone and Android.
You log doses elsewhere and want photo-based meal and protein logging
CalcoCalco does not log doses. It is a photo-first food logger: snap the meal, and the AI estimates calories and protein, which you can adjust. Photo logging requires the premium subscription. Use it next to your dose app, not in place of it.
Dose trackers and food loggers do different jobs
A dose tracker records what you took and when: the medicine, the dose, the injection site and the side effects. It can remind you of the next dose. Shotsy and MeAgain are dose trackers first.
A food logger records what you ate: calories and macros, with protein as the main number. Calco is a food logger only. It has no dose, injection site or side effect log.
You can use one app for both jobs, or a dose tracker plus a food logger. Two apps are useful only if the food logging in your dose app is too slow for you.
Why food and protein logging matters on a GLP-1 medicine
GLP-1 medicines such as semaglutide act on the parts of the brain that control appetite and food intake (NIDDK). NIDDK also states that "medications don't replace physical activity or healthy eating habits as a way to lose weight."
A 2025 joint advisory from four medical and nutrition societies recommends small, regular meals with protein first, and enough fluids each day (Mozaffarian et al., 2025). When your appetite is low, a food log shows whether your meals still reach your protein target.

Questions to ask before you pick an app
- Does it log my medicine? Check that it supports your medicine and form (shot or pill). Shotsy says pill tracking is iOS only.
- How do I log food in it? Photo, barcode, search or quick add. A photo is fast for a plated meal; a barcode suits packaged food.
- What is free? Each app publishes its free list. Compare the lists in the table above, then check the paywall before you subscribe.
- Where does my data go? Read the privacy section of each App Store listing.
A medication-level chart is an estimate. MeAgain calls its graph "an estimate for context, not a measurement or a dosing guide." Ask your prescriber about doses, not an app.

Frequently asked questions
What is the best GLP-1 tracking app?
It depends on the job. For doses, side effects and food in one free app, MeAgain lists all three as free on its own page. For a simple dose and side effect log, Shotsy lists those as free. Calco does not log doses; it logs meals and protein from a photo.
Is there a free GLP-1 tracker app?
Yes. Shotsy and MeAgain both state that their core dose logging is free, with optional paid extras (Shotsy, MeAgain). Calco is free to download, but photo logging requires the premium subscription.
Does Calco track GLP-1 doses?
No. Calco does not log doses, injection sites or side effects. It logs meals from a photo and estimates calories and macros, including protein. Use a dose tracker for your medicine.
What is the best free GLP-1 app for iPhone?
Shotsy and MeAgain are both free to download on iPhone, with free dose logging. MeAgain also lists free food logging by photo, barcode, voice or search. Check the free feature list of each app before you subscribe to anything.
How much protein should I eat on a GLP-1 medicine?
Ask your prescriber or dietitian for a personal target. Our GLP-1 protein calculator gives a range based on published guidance, with sources.
